Auckland Careers Expo’s Connecting Students to the World of Work

Education to Employment, or ED&EM’s goal is to connect secondary students with the world of work, whether that be directly with employers or preparing them to engage with businesses through Careers Expo’s.

Our ED&EM team recently took students from 3 colleges to visit the Datacom Head Office in Auckland. The team at Datacom opened their doors to showcase what a career path into tech could look like. Their staff represented various backgrounds, and not all IT based. Students learned how numerous backgrounds and experiences can be used in tech, and that technology helps enable them to explore their talents further.

The students also had a chance to work in groups to solve real world issues, from the perspective of using AI as their tool. It was a great interactive day that gave these students a chance to see the possibilities of working in tech.
